Hunted by a Jaguar Eternal Mates Romance Series Felicity Heaton Books Reviews

  • Mark my words, Felicity Heaton’s ETERNAL MATES series is going to one day succeed in uprooting Urban Fantasy as my top genre, and after reading HUNTED BY A JAGUAR I find myself barely holding on by the skin of my teeth. This author continuously opens my eyes to the virtues of Paranormal Romance with her bruised males, spirited heroines, and seductive love stories. This installment was a return to the novel that started it all because the elves were back on the front lines, as was one of the founding secondary characters, or rather his sister, and wherever Iolanthe is, big bro is sure to follow. One day his tale will be told, but until then, book 4 was a satisfying substitute.

I enjoyed learning more about Kyter’s background; his sex appeal was already well established thanks to his nightclub owner status (and the cover!), so I was happy that the author chose to focus on his life before Underworld in the opening chapters. The scene where he reunites with his pride was upsetting, and although it did very little to turn me pro jaguar, it solidified Kyter’s character in a big way. I also liked how Heaton played up his kitty attributes via his dialogue, actions and personality. He preens a lot in an attempt to capture his mate’s attention in the early stages of their relationship which made for some great visuals, and purring during sex is just straight-up HOT.

It was interesting that Iolanthe’s reaction to meeting her fated male was as far from insta-love as you can get. In fact, she tries to kill Kyter, and when that fails, she gets the hell out of Dodge. It goes without saying that these two had more than their fair share of issues to work through before a HEA was even in the realm of possibility. Personally, I prefer that to the alternative because it makes for a more compelling read. I really liked Io; she’s spunky, deadly, and in essence a female version of my favourite EM elf. I’m not sure if his identity is a spoiler or not, so I’ll leave it at that, but I’m positive that followers of this series will be able to put two and two together.

This novel’s treasure hunting story line was very entertaining, one of the best to date in my opinion. I enjoyed following the trail of clues, bouncing between locales, and was pleased with how all of the fragments fit together. I also liked that both Kyer and Iolanthe had given up on finding their ETERNAL MATES; the former because his pride told him that he was a lost cause on account of his heritage, and the latter due an elf tradition where a female’s parents get to chose for their daughter if she’s still single on her 1,000th birthday. As a result, this tale had a hopeful feel to it, and validated the proverb that good things come to those who wait.

HUNTED BY A JAGUAR was a sensational way to ring in the New Year, and with three more EM books on the way in as many months, 2015 is looking good!
  • It's Kyter's, the shape-shifter jaguar, turn to get his fated mate. His story starts off sad but progresses into surprise joy. Only he didn't expect it to happen while looking for the key to destroy his dad. A demon, Barafnir. Iolanthe is an elf treasure hunter always seeking adventure; much to the tolerated dismay of her brother, Bleu. The two team up for reasons of their own to gain the same treasure. Only Iolanthe's client gets impatient and he seeks a personal audience with the elf himself. Fernandez is a fallen angel and he wants the power of summoning the demon Barafnir. Only one can summon the demon and that special one wants his vengeance for the death of his mother. Team working with Bleu, Iolanthe's and Kyter, these three are able to right the wrongs done.

I am loving how these beings are getting their mates and I see our author, Felicity Heaton, knocking each one down one by one. I know the mate for Bleu will be a good one and I suspect our writer favors this heartthrob elf warrior so much, she could be saving him near the last. But I will continue to read on about our tough guys getting their fated mates because Ms. Heaton continues to tell wonderful stories.
  • Ooooh I liked this book! A treasure hunt around the world, with two compelling characters - who could want more? )

I really, really liked Kyter as a hero. I love how he could go from easy going to determined depending on the situation. And Iolanthe is the PERFECT girl for him! Did I mention she's awesome? Because she totally is!

Iolanthe is her own girl, doing her own job and living her own life. She doesn't want a collar of a 'mate' around her. And Kyter is just happy she lets him close enough to keep her safe. Er...essentially. I can't say more without being too spoiler-y, but oooh this book was so good! It's probably tied for my favorite following book 1!

I should mention, starting this book, I was not excited about this couple. I've been wanting to read about the dragon from book 2, and Kyter is only mentioned briefly in ah, book 1? But I admit when I'm wrong. I. WAS. WRONG. Kyter and Iolanthe are so awesome along with their story and plotline - Heaton hit the nail on the head with this one! I've found it's always the ones you were least expecting that turn out to be the best ;)

I've so become a fan of this series, it's not even funny! Haha <3
  • I didn't expect Kyter's story to come so fast after the Elves (my favs!). From the first time we met Kyter he was one I tucked away in the back of my mind. I knew his story would be good. I was not disappointed. Kyter owner of the club for all the worlds fae. An outcast from his childhood. avenges his mother's brutal slaying. Not getting any help from his village. Once again condemned, for his birth. His mother slain by his own father. A father hes never seen or even met. Kyter takes it on himself to kill the very man who's blood runs in his veins. First he has to find him. While following a trail that leads to his father Kyter ends up being drawn to a woman. Iolanthe, an artifact dealer is on a mission. One she can't afford to not find. The price if she doesn't? Her head. Kyter soon finds out Ionanthe is after the very same thing he is. While a battle of wits breaks out. Kyter soon realizes this woman is much more than a pesky artifact hunter/dealer. Just as Ionanthe realizes this insane man thats after her charge is much much more than just a Jaguar shifter.
  • This series is ok. I stopped reading after this one. There is so much explanation of the characters thoughts at the worst time. Like in the middle of a battle. When you remove the constant repetitive thought processes there are probably maybe 4 chapters worth of storyline. It's just super slow. I wanna know bleu's story but I so don't want to read all the books in between it. So I am giving up on tgis series. Author needs to really work on a faster paced novel. It's important to give us detail and feelings of characters.... But like I said. Faster paced and more actual story content please.
