• We love Kate Spohn, and wish she would right more books to continue this series! Her illustrations are fun and funny, and she conveys warmth and humor in very simple text. Turtle and Snake look wonderfully funny running away from the owl! We act out this scene in our home, and no, of course, it has not made any of us afraid of owls or camping. Turtle and Snake are hilarious.
• My son loves these guys, so do I!!
• The kids liked this book. We read it during our camping week this summer in my daycare. I thought it was cute that the characters chickened out while most of my daycare kids camp here in Maine. They like the story, we read it several times.
• Great for very young children (under age 4).
• A favorite with my grandkids.
• ....And simple. Perfect book for his reading level without being completely lame with no story. He loves the pics too.
• My 6 year old daughter loves this book and all the Turtle and Snake series books. Her reading level is just as expected for her age, not too far head or behind (according to her 1st grade teacher) and she can read these books well. The stories make her laugh, she loves these two best friends! I highly recommend them. I enjoy the illustrations just as much as she does -)
• After checking this out of the library, my 4 year old son immediately loved it. Keep in mind that it is not a book to help kids like camping. It is a fun book that can help kids start reading. My son memorized the book in just a few readings, and he now "reads" it himself. The pictures of the turtle and snake sleeping bags are great!
